At BE Basketball, our mission has always been to provide young athletes with an environment where they can grow, compete, and push their potential. This season, we took a major step forward by introducing the BE Select Program - a structured, competitive pathway designed to elevate our players’ development and set a clear standard within our academy.

What Is the BE Select Program?
The BE Select Program is the competitive arm of BE Basketball, created for players who demonstrate advanced skills, strong work habits, and the potential to play at a higher level. The Select teams (U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18) train with a consistent coaching staff, follow a progressive curriculum, and compete together in the Doha Development League (DDL) as well as future Jr. NBA events.
The purpose of the program is simple:
Provide the most committed players with a clear performance pathway
Ensure structured development and higher-level training
Build real team identity, consistency, and culture
Select is not just a team - it is the standard of competitive basketball within BE Basketball.
What We Learned From Last Season (Before Select) ?
Before launching Select, our players competed in the DDL without being grouped into dedicated training squads. While we saw strong individual talent, one lesson was very clear:
Players must practice together to play well together.
Last season showed us that chemistry, spacing, decision-making, and collective understanding only develop when a consistent group trains as a unit.
Introducing the Select structure allowed us to build that continuity, and the improvement has already been noticeable on the court.
Why We Introduced the Select Program?
We created the Select Program to bring consistency, identity, and purpose to our competitive teams.
Our main goals were:
One coach, one team: the same coach leads practices and games
True team spirit: the group grows together, not just individually
High-intensity basketball: faster pace, better spacing, smarter decisions
A pathway to bigger opportunities: Jr. NBA, international events, and beyond
We wanted our players to have something to strive for - a level inside BE Basketball where commitment and performance matter.
Who Is in the Select Program?

This season, our Select teams include U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 boys.
Players were chosen based on a clear set of criteria:
Game understanding and basketball IQ
Coachability and commitment
Physical ability and readiness for high-intensity play
Ability to handle faster pace and decision-making
The result is a group of players who are competitive, disciplined, and ready to represent BE Basketball at a higher level.
Standout Players This Season
Several athletes have shown exceptional consistency, improvement, and understanding of our key concepts:
U10: Adem, Jassem, Cornelius
U12: Omar and Matthew
U14: Noah, Antonio
U16/U18: Yanki, Salim, Severi, Joaquin A, Milo
These players have stood out not just in performance, but in their ability to apply our concepts, adapt quickly, and lead by example.
What Has Worked Well So Far?
The first phase of the Select Program has been very encouraging. Some of our biggest successes include:
Clear competitive identity :
Players now understand that Select is the competitive side of BE, and that earning a spot means something.

Consistency in coaching:
Having the same coach in both practices and games has strengthened team chemistry and accountability.
Training design:
Sessions are more focused, structured, and aligned with the pace we want to play.
Strong team culture:
The players support each other, compete harder, and take more pride in their progress.
Better communication with parents
Families now see the development pathway more clearly and understand what Select represents.
What We Are Still Working On?
Like any development program, we have challenges we continue to address:
Game understanding:
Knowing when to slow down and when to accelerate remains a key focus point.
Playing fast without rushing
We want pace, not chaos. Making good decisions at high speed is still developing.

Consistency under pressure
Young players are still learning how to maintain standards in competitive situations.
These are normal growth areas, and we are confident our players will continue improving with time, repetition, and experience.
What’s Next for the BE Select Program?
The future is exciting.
Jr. NBA (starting in April):
Confirmed categories: U12 and U14
Possible addition: U16 (awaiting final confirmation)
International pathways:
We are preparing to organize or participate in international tournaments and camps throughout Europe. More information will be shared with families soon.
The long-term vision is clear:
Give our players the opportunity to grow within BE, compete at the highest level locally, and experience basketball beyond Qatar.
